Pure action: FIBO stages the best fitness trends

16 Apr 2012

Whether it is Piloxing, Sensoboard or Barre Concept – many new fitness trends can be seen on the FIBO Zumba Stage this year. On the big stage in Hall 6, the Leading International Trade Show for Fitness, Wellness & Health traditionally presents the latest programmes from fitness, martial arts, show, acrobatics and dance. Following the first-ever presentation of the Zumba dance fitness programme in Germany several years ago at FIBO and its subsequent successful entry into the fitness studios, this stage keeps presenting new workouts from all parts of the world. For visitors, this is a unique opportunity to get to know and directly test many new trends. Among those presented will be the new releases from the well-known Les Mills programme as well as workouts accompanied by a live band.

Zumba Fitness

In recent years, no FIBO would have been imaginable without it: ZUMBA – the fitness workout with a unique mix of Latin and international dance music and steps from dances like Merengue and Samba. In 2012, guests on the FIBO ZUMBA stage will be DVD and Zumba super stars Gina Grant and Tanya Beardsley from the USA as well as the European ZUMBA Team led by Marta Formoso. As a special surprise, Vicky Zagarra from Italy who appeared in the first ZUMBA Video ever and visited FIBO as the first female ZUMBA presenter will also be there.

Piloxing: Pilates and Boxing

One of the new fitness programme presented on stage is Piloxing – a combination of Pilates, boxing and dance, this is the brand-new trend that Hollywood stars like singer and actress Hilary Duff and Alexis Bledel (of “Gilmore Girls”) practise to keep fit. This training was developed by Swedish dancer and fitness trainer Viveca Jensen, who will be one of the presenters of this workout at FIBO. The aim of Piloxing is to strengthen both the body and the mind through fitness. With its combination of move elements from Pilates training and boxing, it is a varied and effective total body exercise which increases endurance and helps to build up muscles.

LES MILLS Medley

LES MILLS, the world's biggest group fitness specialist, is bound to have visitors in front of the stage in Hall 6 work up a sweat. A medley from the best programmes by LES MILLS will be presented, from the world-famous BODYPUMP through to the new SH’BAM dance workout and the CXWORX core training. Moves and move sequences from the latest releases will be presented by the respective national instructors. LES MILLS courses are taught in more than 80 countries (about 1,000 in Germany) and reach 6 million people every week.

Barre Concept - the workout that uses the ballet barre

Barre Concept, a workout using the ballet barre, is celebrating its première. In April this type of training will be launched in Germany at FIBO and in other large German cities. In the Barre Concept not only elements from ballet but also from Pilates, yoga and weight training help muscle building specifically in the problem areas of the female body. All major muscle groups especially those of the abdomen, thighs, arms and bottom are thus effectively toned and stretched. The paramount objective is to achieve the well-defined body of a dancer.

Ludwig Artzt Vitality Nights: Functional training performance with a live band

Another newcomer to the ZUMBA Stage is Vitality Nights. This workout is concerned with equally improving coordination, stabilisation, balance, endurance, cognition, strength, agility, nutrition and the mind. The aim is to strengthen the entire body, which is why all muscle groups are included in the training programme which also comprises warm-ups and stretching exercises. An Aerobic WarmUp with the BOSU® balance trainer, elements from functional weight training with Gymsticks™ and an exercise tape form part of this workout. Participants are accompanied by the bass and percussion duo BBBeat performing live.

Reebok Easy Tone Step

A new form of step aerobics shown by the presenters on the ZUMBA Stage is the Reebok Easy Tone Step. The integrated air cushions underneath the stepboard create natural instability, thus causing muscles to work harder. As a result, the workout combines classic Step Aerobic steps with balance training. On stage are the Top-Presenter Jose Martinez, Esther Frangenberg and Jutta Schuhn.

Other items on the FIBO ZUMBA Stage programme this year are the DFAV e.V. Show Mix, the WoMans Work Crew with a Hip Hop and Streetdance presentation and Michael Möller, 6-time World Cup winner in a variety of martial arts disciplines. The programme in Hall 6 starts on the FIBO Thursday, 19 April at 10.30 a.m. and continues for the entire duration of the trade show. On 19 and 20 April, access to the trade show is open to trade visitors only, on 21 and 22 April all fitness enthusiasts are welcome. Information on the full programme is available on http://www.fibo.de/live_stageshows_198.html.
