Emergency response networks around the world rely on the speed and effectiveness with which helicopters can be deployed for a variety of tasks. With this in mind, rotary wing ‘Blue Light’ operations will be discussed on Thursday 29 September at the Helitech Conference.
The keynote speech will be given by Alex Marshall, Hampshire Constabulary’s Chief Constable and Lead on the UK’s National Police Air Support (NPAS). Marshall will be exploring the challenges faced by the police service in delivering a cost effective air operations capability, particularly at a time when UK police budgets are being reduced. He will also outline the development of the NPAS as well as discussing longer term aspirations for a shared service across other law enforcement and government bodies.
This theme will be picked up by AgustaWestland’s Head of UK Government and Corporate Affairs, Richard Folkes. His presentation, Helicopter Emergency Response: Cost Effective Options For The Future, will explore the current situation facing police and UK search and rescue helicopter services. Richard will also pose questions about how these might be operated with greater efficiency in the future.
In addition to this Bell Helicopter’s Key Segment Specialist, Carl Crenshaw, will be debating what the future holds for police aviation and its modernisation, including a look at parapublic growth, current trends and the justification for existing and future public safety aviation operations. Emerging technology, modernisation and the need for active fleet management and aircraft replacement will also be covered.
