Prospects for viscom düsseldorf 2011 are bright: close to 300 exhibitors have announced their participation in the international trade fair for visual communication technology and design. By the time the fair opens, this number is expected to rise to about 320. The fair thus continues on the record levels attained at its two previous events (viscom frankfurt 2010: 305; viscom düsseldorf 2009: 328). More than a third of the companies exhibiting at viscom this year come from abroad. Most prominent here are Austria and Switzerland, the Netherlands, Poland and the United Kingdom.
As to visitor numbers, viscom organiser Reed Exhibitions Deutschland also looks to the fair with optimism. Since 2006 these have gone up from 6,715 to 11,660 industry representatives visiting viscom in Frankfurt last year, which represents an increase of more than 70 percent. In Düsseldorf figures have also risen over the past few years, and at the next viscom, to be held from 13 to 15 October at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre, about 11,500 international trade visitors are expected.
Key industry players and young entrepreneurs at viscom
The viscom exhibitors represent all segments of visual communication, from classic advertising technology to digital printing through to digital signage applications and point of sale solutions. Key industry players like Hewlett-Packard or Canon will be there, but also many young companies and first-time exhibitors. DV Signage Europe, for instance, will be exhibiting at viscom for the first time this year. With its range of displays, playout systems and presentation technology the company expands the scope at the Digital Signage World. Another newcomer is Seiko Instruments, a leading company in the field of large format printing, or Macron, also at home in digital printing. First-time exhibitor Fahnen Herold offers textile and vinyl printing. Among the new faces at viscom is Comhan Holland with its aluminium systems for the sign, display and light advertising industry.
Customised Design Forum: The multifaceted world of digital printing
One large segment at viscom düsseldorf 2011 will again be digital printing technologies. Exhibitors include Agfa Graphics Germany, EFI Electronics for Imaging, Fujifilm Sericol Deutschland, Macron, Mimaki-nbh, Multi-Plot Europe, Mutoh Deutschland, Océ-Deutschland, Roland DG Benelux, Sihl Direct or the Spandex Group. The exhibition area will be complemented by an extensive supporting programme on this subject area and the Customised Design Forum. In cooperation with the raumPROBE materials agency, rgf – Ring Grafischer Fachhändler, FORTEAM Communication and Mutoh Deutschland the newly established Customised Design Forum at viscom offers everything related to the digitally printed world. In the “print design!” special exhibition, part of which is an Architects’ Lounge, and in the “Customised Design meets Materials” materials exhibition many examples of applications including the respective technologies will be on display. The “From pixel to product” presentation and the Customised Printing Workshop complete the offer.
Fair within the fair: Digital Signage World
As a “fair within the fair” the Digital Signage World is dedicated to digital advertising and information systems. Companies represented in the exhibition area include Epson Deutschland, Samsung Electronics, Macnetix, Cittadino or MMD Philips. The exhibitors present hardware, software and complete solutions, examples of applications from the retail sector, information and guiding systems, interactivity and content. An important part of the Digital Signage World is the presentation of the award nominees. The Digital Signage Best Practice Awards are granted to particularly efficient, creatively implemented, innovative and successful digital signage projects. The Digital Signage Days lecture programme offers visitors an overview of the latest developments and trends in the Digital Signage segment.
Second edition of the DISPLAY/PoS World Many manufacturers and suppliers of display, PoS and packaging solutions have already made firm bookings for viscom. Among them are OECHSLE Display Systeme, Run Retail United and Jansen Display. After its premiere last year, in 2011 the DISPLAY/PoS World at viscom groups manufacturers and suppliers of display, PoS and packaging solutions in one area for the second time. The traditional display SUPERSTAR, an award for the DISPLAY/PoS segment, will also be presented once again at the trade fair by publishers display Verlag in cooperation with viscom organiser Reed Exhibitions.

In addition to the attractions at the special areas, viscom offers all groups of visitors an extensive lecture programme.
