COMPOSITES EUROPE 2011: Top-class specialist programme on automation, processing and serial production

29 Jul 2011

AVK Conference with a new concept
Supporting programme with workshop on bonding technology and live demonstrations

From the International AVK Conference to the Composites Forum through to the Product Demonstration Area – from 27 to 29 September, COMPOSITES EUROPE 2011 in Stuttgart offers visitors a top-class supporting programme. At the specialist fair not only will there be more than 300 international exhibitors, but numerous other specialists both from the practical and the research field will provide an overview of the trends in the market for composites. Automation, processing and applications for serial production are the current topics. The programme ranges from lecture series and an international bonding technology workshop to live demonstrations of cutting and RTM.

The AVK conference, the traditional prelude of the trade fair, will be held from 26 to 27 September and will follow a new concept. Grouped in two lecture series, top speakers will provide information on the many and varied areas of fibre composites. As regards the topics treated, the two series will be subdivided into lecture blocks for decision-makers and technicians.

The GRP and CFRP market and the conditions surrounding it will feature as a topic, as will the current technological developments and new processes. Specialists from Airbus and Mercedes Benz will speak, among other topics, on thermoplastic composites in aeroplane construction and SMC structural parts in automotive construction. In a special block of lectures scientists from renowned universities and institutions will report on trends, materials comparisons and applications for serial production. A panel discussion on the topic of “Future perspectives of fibre-reinforced plastics in automobiles” with well-known participants from the automotive industry and its component suppliers discussing the current state of technology will conclude the conference.

COMPOSITES Forum with a workshop on innovative bonding technology
Automation, product lifecycle management (PLM) and bonding technology – these are the three central topics at the COMPOSITES Forum. On all three days of the trade fair, specialists from the practical and the scientific field will speak on the fundamentals and trends in the processing and finishing of composite materials.

In the automation theme complex, the programme includes, among other topics, new processes for serial production in the automotive industry and robotic technologies for CFRP processing.

Following the very positive echo to the two previous events, COMPOSITES EUROPE will again devote a special workshop on the third day of the trade fair to the topic of bonding technologies for fibre reinforced plastics. The focus will be on bonding options, adhesives requirements and properties of various materials. Prof. Dr. Andreas Groß of the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Advanced Materials IFAM will present the workshop and provide specialist support. The COMPOSITES Forum is located in Hall 4 and is designed as an open lecture area. The lectures which will be given in English and German and are free for all trade fair visitors.

Highlight for visitors: the Product Demonstration Area
From cutting and bonding technology to RTM live demonstration – year after year, the special “Product Demonstration Area” is the crowd puller at the trade fair. The special show in Hall C2, organised in cooperation with the Institut für Kunststoffverarbeitung [Insitute for Plastics Processing] (IKV) at the RWTH Aachen and the AVK - Industrievereinigung verstärkte Kunststoffe [Federation of Reinforced Plastics], offers visitors a close-up on high-tech products, presentations of production processes, raw materials as well as various testing procedures for composites products.
